Since becoming an approved member of the Department for Constitutional Affairs’ Tape Transcription Panel The Transcription Agency (TTA) is authorised to transcribe court hearings and judgments from County Courts and Small Claims Courts. TTA supplies an accurate and efficient verbatim transcription service.

All transcripts are completed in-house by experienced transcribers who have full access to support materials to ensure complete accuracy. Transcripts pass through TTA’s Quality Control Unit for full assessment before they are returned to clients (judgments must be sent back to the presiding judge for approval before being returned to the client). For fast turnarounds or where postal delivery of transcripts is not possible transcripts can be provided electronically through TTA’s secure FTP site.

Although the contracted turnaround is 15 working days from receipt of work, TTA deliver transcripts with greater speed than this without compromising on quality.

TTA, its premises and personnel have undergone extensive security and quality checks in order to be accepted as a Tape Transcription Panel Member. All staff working for The Transcription Agency who will have access to sensitive information including protectively marked material, e.g. restricted, confidential, and occasionally, secret or top secret, will have undergone a Criminal Records Check.

If a transcript or copy of a transcript of a hearing or a judgment is required a request to the court where the case was heard must be made. The request is made using an EX107 form which can be accessed by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

The EX107 should be returned to the relevant court and a copy sent to TTA. The copy can be emailed to or posted to:

The tapes will be sent directly from the court to TTA. Receipt of tapes will be confirmed upon arrival. TTA require payment before transcription commences.
